The highly regarded village of Nettlebed has a thriving community at its heart. The stunning gardens of Joyce Grove, a Jacobean Mansion (Sue Ryder Nursing Home), has its gates next to Red Lion House, and makes for wonderful walks all year round. Within the village you will find the White Hart Pub & Hotel, The Field Kitchen, a fully licensed café and deli, and the Nettlebed Cricket Club. There is also an excellent doctor’s surgery, convenience store and Costa Coffee housed within the village petrol station. Nettlebed Community Primary School is a 5 minute walk and the green opposite the house is the pick up and drop off point for a number of highly regarded state and private schools throughout Oxfordshire. More extensive shopping and recreational facilities can be found in the nearby historic riverside town of Henley-on-Thames, approximately 5 miles, home to the famous Leander Club. Reading (8 miles) also offers further shops and amenities, together with a fast rail service to London, Paddington (from 24 minutes). The M4 junction 8/9 lies within easy reach, whilst the M40 (J6) is less than 9 miles and provides access to Heathrow and the national motorway network. The surrounding countryside offers extensive walking and riding through a well-linked network of public footpaths and bridleways.
